Swiss Pine

If you want to survive at such altitudes, you need special characteristics. Perfect for Swiss stone pines, which like it really wild. They are record holders in several disciplines: They climb up to 2400 metres above sea level, can withstand temperatures of -40°C and can live for up to 1000 years. Unlike larch, spruce and pine, the seeds in the cones do not have wings, but are spread by the nutcracker. Can you find a Swiss stone pine near you? A tip: the needle tufts always have 5 needles.
