Munt Baselgia
This ridge forms the border to the Macun area in the Swiss National Park. It’s hard to imagine that during the last ice age around 20,000 years ago, the ice line reached just below it. At that time, you would have been under a 1.5 kilometre thick layer of ice. The stream of ice flowing down from the Bernina region split in Zernez: one arm of the glacier flowed over the Ofen Pass into South Tyrol, the other as far as Salzburg.
